Spencer Fane to Combine with Conner & Winters

April 8, 2026

Spencer Fane is pleased to announce plans to combine with Conner & Winters, LLP, a firm with more than 75 attorneys and a strong reputation throughout the Southwest. Effective July 1, the combination meaningfully strengthens the Spencer Fane client platform while advancing the firm’s long-standing strategy of delivering sophisticated legal services with industry leading culture, efficiency, and collaboration.

Based in Tulsa, Conner & Winters enjoys a national reputation in multiple practices, including energy, construction, health care, litigation, finance, and other complex commercial matters. Founded in 1933, the firm brings more than 90 years of experience advising businesses, institutions, and individuals across the Southern and Central regions of the U.S. With attorneys practicing across offices in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, Conner & Winters is known for technical excellence, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, and enduring client relationships – capabilities that will further expand the depth, reach, and value of the Spencer Fane client platform.

The combination, the firm’s largest to date, continues its decade-plus record of sustainably building a differentiated national platform of elite lawyers focused on unrivaled client service and a singularly unique culture.

“This combination will dramatically enhance our client platform and ability to deliver exceptional value,” Spencer Fane Chair Patrick J. Whalen said. “Conner & Winters brings exceptional lawyers, complementary practices, and longstanding client relationships that expand our capabilities while fitting seamlessly into our collaborative, efficiency driven model. The combined firm will offer increasingly sophisticated legal services with compelling economics and a client experience other law firms do not offer.”

Over the past decade, Spencer Fane has combined with several elite law firms who shared a common vision of unequalled value creation for clients as well as professionals in the firm. The firm’s most recent combinations – including Golenbock Eiseman in New York, Global IP Group in Washington, D.C., Montgomery Andrews in Santa Fe, Snow Christensen in Salt Lake City, and Pahl & McCay in San Francisco – have further expanded the areas in which clients can be served while also strengthening firmwide efficiency and scalability.

“When firms are aligned culturally and structurally, growth becomes a natural byproduct of a strategy that works – for clients, for lawyers, and for the firm’s long term economics.” Pat said.

The combination also builds on the firm’s recent organizational redesign, which continues to enhance the firm’s ability to operate efficiently at scale. By moving away from a traditional hierarchical structure in favor of a model emphasizing autonomy, accountability, and collaboration, the firm has created an infrastructure that supports rapid integration, efficient delivery of legal services, and consistent value across markets. Since its launch, the structure has enabled the formation of more than 90 attorney-led Market Teams, which will soon incorporate Conner & Winters attorneys and clients.

“For our firm, joining Spencer Fane was a strategic decision driven by alignment and opportunity,” Conner & Winters Managing Partner R. Kevin Redwine said. “Spencer Fane has built a platform that combines strong economics, operational efficiency, and a genuinely collaborative culture – all while keeping clients at the center of the model. That made this combination a compelling next step for our lawyers and our clients.”

The firm’s platform and performance have been recognized across the industry, including recent honors from the Financial Times, which shortlisted the firm among its Innovative Law Firms North America 2025; U.S. News & World Report, which ranked Spencer Fane as the top rated firm in its 2025 Best Companies to Work For: Law Firms listing; and The American Lawyer, which described the firm as “a case study on how a law firm can add market share, climb the rankings, and grow profits, all at the same time.”
