A Spencer Fane team led by attorneys Kevin G. Corcoran and Josh Hedrick recently secured a trial victory for firm client Cotton Commercial in a complex Harris County State Court breach of contract lawsuit.
In December 2025, the four-year case culminated in a three-day jury trial and one-hour deliberation and resulted in an 11-1 verdict in favor of Cotton Commercial. Although the parties and judge instructed the jury the trial would be five days in the week before Christmas, the Spencer Fane team worked tirelessly to make its evidence and trial presentation efficient and succinct. Thanks to the team’s detailed preparation and powerful trial strategy, the jury was able to finish the case two days ahead of schedule. Furthermore, the jury awarded all requested damages – totaling over $800,000 – to Cotton Commercial.
In addition to Kevin and Josh, the core team who delivered this client success comprised Rebecca Gibson and paralegal Tiffany Sims. Kevin’s adept key witness presentation and arguments were aided by the skillful voir dire and second chair efforts of Josh, with Rebecca and Tiffany artfully navigating briefing and the “hot seat” of trial exhibits and video testimony, respectively. The team was also buoyed by the support of professionals such as Joey Blake, Eli Rodriguez, Kimberly Kasten, Patricia Rodriguez, Yoli Rios, Julia Woods, Monica Medina, Marisa Drake, Katharine Reddock and the firm’s trial operations team, Chalice Hornsby, and Jiovonni Peter. Through these cross-office efforts, Spencer Fane was pleased to again showcase the skillset and collaborative focus its professionals deliver as fierce client advocates.
