Spencer Fane Welcomes Ed Herman to Firm’s Real Estate Practice

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Ed Herman, who joins the firm as Of Counsel and brings more than 30 years of legal experience to the firm’s Real Estate practice.

“We’re elated to welcome Ed to the firm – his real estate acumen, along with his knowledge of biomass renewable energy will allow us to deepen our services to our Dallas and Texas clients,” said Patrick J. Whalen, Spencer Fane Managing Partner. “With nearly 25 years of in-house legal service, Ed will provide a unique perspective in providing continued excellence in client service.”

Before joining Spencer Fane, Ed ran his own practice for seven years focusing on commercial real estate and other transactional matters. He has represented more than 14 child care franchisees throughout Texas involving their respective purchases of real property and construction of child care facilities, other purchasers and sellers of improved and unimproved land throughout Texas and clients involved in biomass renewable energy projects, including the conversion of cow manure and food wastes into renewable biogas and/or electricity throughout the United States. Prior to running his own practice, Ed spent 17 years as in-house counsel for 7-Eleven, where he handled most of the mergers and acquisitions, environmental matters and real estate, and then spent 8 years at Dean Foods, where, as VP-Legal, he was responsible for all real estate, environmental, construction and energy legal matters.

Ed earned his law degree from the Duke University, and has undergraduate degrees from both the Wharton School and the Engineering School at the University of Pennsylvania.
