Spencer Fane attorneys Linda Knight and Valentine Uduebor were featured speakers for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD)’s GC Bootcamp Series on October 30.
Comprising 10 hourlong virtual sessions from September 10 to November 13, the GC Bootcamps provide general counsel and chief legal officers with introductory-level education on key legal areas. These presentations are designed for and led by alumni of LCLD’s prestigious leadership programs and cover topics such as bankruptcy, data privacy, intellectual property, and government investigations.
Linda and Val’s session, Insurance Management & Renewal, focused on the fundamentals of commercial insurance. The team discussed different types of business insurance policies; procurement and renewal; when and how to file or tender a claim; compliance with policy conditions such as notice, cooperation, and consent to settle; common exclusions and limitations of coverage; the distinction between defense and indemnity; reservation of rights; control of the defense; and recent trends in insurance recovery.
At Spencer Fane, Linda and Val are valued members of the firm’s Insurance team. They assist insurers and their insureds in complex coverage evaluations and insurance litigation, successfully resolving high-stakes challenges and minimizing exposure. The duo – both alumni of the LCLD Fellows Program – are also deeply involved in firmwide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, with Linda serving as Chair of the Women ADVOCATE Committee and Val co-chairing the Black Opportunities to Network and Discover (BOND) Committee.
