Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Brian P. DeVoss and Sarah B. Fandrey have joined the Real Estate practice group as partners in the firm’s Dallas office.
Brian and Sarah represent real estate investors and developers across the country in corporate transactions, acquisition and disposition, development, construction, leasing, and financing of projects. They have extensive experience working with private equity (PE) firms and real estate investment trusts (REITs) in the acquisition and development of marinas, luxury recreational vehicle resorts and parks, and leisure properties across the country. Working closely together for the past seven years, the two have closed over $2 Billion in transactions, advising clients of all sizes, in all stages, and in all classes of commercial real estate.
Brian recently served as general counsel for one of the largest marina platforms in the world which operated as a private REIT. He boasts a proven track record of negotiating complex ground leases and leasehold financing arrangements with local, state, and federal agencies. Brian’s unique business dispute background includes coordinating with trial counsel and regulatory authorities on controversies, workouts, and receiverships involving both commercial collections and regulatory matters relating to securities fraud and FTC rules. Internally, he also has extensive experience overseeing risk management and compliance programs. Brian has served as outside general counsel for companies across the country, where he excels at thoughtfully collaborating with entrepreneurs and executives to solve the day-to-day problems of growing companies.
Sarah is a well-known community leader and, in addition to representing PE firms and REITs, represents railway companies and hotel, office, warehouse, shopping center, residential, and multifamily housing developers as well as lenders, trusts, family offices, restaurant owners, office tenants, joint ventures, and non-profits. Sarah regularly handles complex, multimillion-dollar projects for large institutions as well as routine real estate transactions for small family offices. She is an exceptionally organized yet dynamic professional, committed to providing her clients with practical solutions, advice, and support in a responsive and approachable manner.

Brian received his undergraduate degree from the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business and his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School. Sarah completed her undergraduate studies and earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri, later earning her Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law.
