Overview

Brian P. DeVoss represents private developers, institutional investors, including real estate investment trusts (REITs), entrepreneurs, and family offices in the acquisition and disposition of multiple classes of commercial real estate and private operating companies with successful, risk-mitigating strategies cultivated over nearly two decades of experience.

Most recently, Brian acted as general counsel for one of the largest marina platforms in the world which operated as a private REIT, overseeing all legal and risk management matters for the private REIT following his role as lead deal counsel for the private REIT’s roll-up of approximately $2 billion of assets since 2015.

Brian’s well-established practice includes representing institutional investors in acquisition / disposition, leasing, and management matters with a particular emphasis on outdoor recreation, retail, flex-industrial, and seniors housing asset classes. He also boasts a business dispute background coordinating with trial counsel and regulatory authorities on controversies, workouts, and receiverships involving both commercial collections and federal regulatory matters. Internally, Brian has extensive experience overseeing risk management and compliance programs. He has served as outside general counsel for companies serving their needs across the country, where he excels at thoughtfully collaborating with entrepreneurs and executives to efficiently and creatively solve the day-to-day problems that growing companies face.
