Raymond Jones Joins Burgeoning Patent Litigation Team in Houston Office of Spencer Fane

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Raymond Jones joined the Intellectual Property practice group as an Of Counsel attorney in the firm’s Houston office. He will focus on patent litigation.

A former Federal Circuit clerk, and U.S. Naval Academy graduate, Jones has more 25 years of experience in patent litigation and other IP enforcement. He regularly handles all phases of dispute resolution regardless of legal venue, ranging from pre-suit investigations to appeals. Jones also represents clients in inter partes review (IPR) procedures before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He brings a breadth of knowledge related to patent law, including licensing, and company / IP valuations.

Significantly, Jones brings a strong educational and practice background in aerospace engineering. His proficiencies include aircraft and UAV structural design, aircraft and UAV control systems, aircraft manufacturing, weapons systems, sensors, and electrical devices and software devices and processes. He also previously worked with computer components, software systems, software development and programming, information systems, cyber systems including cloud-based systems, cybersecurity, endpoint security, authentication schemes for network access of mobile devices, cyber threat detection, and encryption/decryption processes.

Jones has counseled numerous startups and established companies focused on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC), on matters including due diligence for M&A transactions, IP protection strategies under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFAR) government regulations, and technology or marketplace differentiation analyses.

Jones earned his Juris Doctor from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. Prior to entering private practice, he completed a clerkship for the Hon. Pauline Newman in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
