Spencer Fane attorney Charli Steed was featured in a special May issue of Missouri Lawyers Media (MLM) in celebration of the 2023 Women’s Justice Awards (WJA). She is one of four firm attorneys and one of only two Missouri associates to receive this honor this year.
In the WJA 25th anniversary issue, Charli and her fellow honorees were spotlighted under their respective categories. MLM highlighted Charli as a Pro Bono Award recipient, and she discussed how her background influenced her vocation.
“Participating in karate from ages 6 to 19 helped shape my personality and career,” she shared. “I’m a third-degree black belt. I’m headstrong and willing to stand up for the little guy or gal … I want the legal system to be accessible to everyone, especially those in need or who have been wronged.”
WJA honorees are recognized for their “professional excellence in Missouri’s courtrooms and boardrooms.” Spencer Fane is the only firm with more than three honorees this year. Attorneys Elizabeth Felker, Stacy Harper, and Jessie Merrigan are also 2023 WJA recipients.
At Spencer Fane, Charli is a member of the Tax, Trusts, & Estates group, focusing her practice in the areas of tax, wealth preservation, and general business. Charli helps clients plan for the future by preparing trusts, wills, powers of attorney, non-judicial settlement agreements, and fiduciary litigation documents.
