Spencer Fane attorneys Kris Dekker and Peter Riggs recently contributed to the February cover story for Greater Phoenix In Business magazine, providing insight into how businesses are approaching bankruptcy and insolvency issues as the COVID-19 pandemic persists.
Titled “Making Sense of It All: Business, the Law and COVID-19,” the article looks at how businesses are dealing with disruptions as a result of the economic downturn. Companies have sought out legal services to help manage these disruptions.
“[W]hile it was an active year for commercial bankruptcies, the volume of filings was substantially less than predicted, predominately because of government stimulus, in the form of PPP and other loans, stimulus payments, and expanded unemployment benefits that helped maintain consumer spending and prevent even greater job losses,” Kris and Peter explained in the article.
