Spencer Fane attorney Helen Holden presented at the America Bar Association (ABA) Forum on Construction Law’s Midwinter Conference on February 5 in Dana Point, California. Theresa Becerra, Dave Schatz, and Zackary Smith also represented the firm at the event.
Held at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, this three-day conference provided insightful CLE programming centered on the theme Changing Landscapes: New and Effective ADR Strategies, which showcased the ongoing evolution of construction alternative dispute resolution. Helen was a Division Lunch Program panelist at the event, joining fellow industry thought leaders for the session Effective Use of Mediation in Employment Claims Handling and Resolution. This discussion provided a practical overview of mediating common employment disputes in construction – such as wrongful termination, discrimination claims, wage and hour issues, and harassment allegations – and highlighted how mediation can serve as an effective alternative to litigation.
At the firm, Helen serves as Labor and Employment practice group leader. In addition to this leadership role, she helps businesses successfully navigate federal and state employment laws to positively impact company culture. Helen’s diverse industry experience and focus on management-side employment law spans construction, real estate, manufacturing, technology, health care, distribution, and the retail and service sectors.
