DeAndrea Washington Earns Third Straight Houston Business Journal Honor with Women Who Mean Business

Spencer Fane is thrilled to announce attorney DeAndrea Washington has been named to the Houston Business Journal (HBJ) 2023 class of Women Who Mean Business. This distinction is her third HBJ honor this year and her fourth 2023 recognition overall.

DeAndrea was named among HBJ’s Diversity in Business and 40 Under 40 honorees in February and May, respectively. She was also selected for inclusion on Corporate Counsel Business Journal’s inaugural 50 Women to Watch list in June. She earns her latest HBJ recognition, Outstanding Business Leader in Law, for her leadership excellence, career achievements, and community impact. DeAndrea and her 89 fellow honorees – including her own nominee and client, Kim Cunningham of Exxon Mobil Corporation (Outstanding Business Leader in Energy) – will be formally recognized in an HBJ special edition and at the October 13 Women Who Mean Business Awards.

At Spencer Fane, DeAndrea focuses her practice on a variety of labor and employment litigation matters. She provides preventive counsel and litigates employment disputes on behalf of public and private employers in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies.

DeAndrea also advocates for DEI in the legal field and is a respected voice in the firm’s leadership. She serves as a member of the Spencer Fane Executive Committee advising on diversity, equity, and inclusivity impacting firm decisions and strategy at the highest level of firm leadership. She is also a member of the DEI Committee. DeAndrea believes strongly in the advancement of women and minorities in the legal industry and uses her platform to improve the firm and the business community in Texas and throughout the nation.
