Spencer Fane attorneys Karen McCay, Sarah Fandrey, Tara Holterhaus, and Robin Nolan were pleased to represent the firm at the National Apartment Association (NAA)’s Rental Housing Advocacy and Legal Summit (RHALS) on August 4-6 in Nashville, Tennessee. Karen also served on an event panel.
Throughout the Summit, the team connected with firm clients and other industry colleagues to discuss current legal trends and challenges facing the rental housing industry. During her joint session, The Past 18: HUD Policy Shifts & Enforcement Changes, Karen and her fellow panelists examined how the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s approach to housing policy, fair housing guidance, compliance, and enforcement has evolved recently, highlighting regulatory rollbacks, shifting enforcement priorities, and the practical implications for apartment owners and managers.
Karen, Sarah, Tara, and Robin are key members of the Spencer Fane Multi-Family Housing market team, delivering strategic counsel tailored to clients’ operational and business needs. Through legal services spanning property management, regulatory compliance, financing, leasing, and dispute resolution, each attorney serves as a trusted resource across the firm’s California, Texas, Nebraska, and Colorado markets, respectively. At the RHALS, the firm’s deep involvement in the multi-family housing industry was further illustrated through Tara Holterhaus’ dual role as Spencer Fane partner and Director of the NAA-affiliated Apartment Association of Nebraska.
