As part of its annual AmLaw 200 coverage, The American Lawyer highlighted Spencer Fane for having ‘led the way’ in 2022 with revenue growth that continued to outpace peer firms in Missouri. Spencer Fane has posted double-digit revenue growth each year for the past decade as the firm has built a platform to provide clients the talent and resources they need in geographies where they do business.
The American Lawyer article, titled “After Top-Line Gains, Missouri Law Firms Seek More Scale,” reported Spencer Fane’s revenue increased by 21.5 percent in 2022, attributing the firm’s resilience to a growth strategy focusing on talent and diversification.
“Pat Whalen, chair and managing partner of Spencer Fane, said that while his firm didn’t see a drop-off in mergers and acquisitions or real estate that many others in the industry experienced, it has also consciously tried to diversify its offerings during his tenure, and last year’s results are a manifestation of such long-term moves rather than a one-off.”
In the last year, Spencer Fane has added significantly to areas including financial services, real estate, labor and employment and health care, among others. In recent years, the firm has also expanded into new geographical areas including markets such as Austin, Nashville, and Tampa, among others.
Due to this long-term approach, Spencer Fane has sustained its place as one of the fastest-growing law firms in the Am Law 200.
