Patrick A. Hilsmier
Overview
Patrick Hilsmier helps clients develop efficient and effective strategies for stronger intellectual property portfolios that maximize the value of marketable products and services. He is a U.S. Patent Agent with nearly 20 years of experience in IP law, including service as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined patent applications in dentistry art (Class 433), a diverse field encompassing mechanical, chemical, electrical, and materials science innovations.
Patrick has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of U.S. patent applications across a broad range of technologies. His work includes conducting hundreds of examiner interviews, drafting original patent applications for both U.S. and Japanese clients, and successfully presenting oral arguments before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Patrick regularly advises Japanese companies on U.S. patent practice, procedural developments, and legal updates. He frequently travels to Japan to meet with clients and provide strategic guidance tailored to cross-border IP needs.
