Overview

Jon Cornfield represents clients in financial services litigation, commercial disputes, complex torts, and class actions in state, federal, and appellate courts. Proficient in the full litigation life cycle, he handles everything from drafting pleadings, critical motions, and briefs to discovery responses, document collection, and review. He has handled depositions, prepared witnesses for testimony, and participated in trials and settlements.

In previous roles, Jon represented a federal regulatory agency as outside counsel on claims involving broker-dealer and investment advisor requests for expungement of information from their registration records. He also has previous experience representing a large health care client in medical malpractice litigation.

Jon prides himself on his ability to connect with his clients, and he takes an interpersonal approach to each matter. Whether through investigation, fact-finding, drafting, or oral argument, he thrives on taking complicated legal problems, distilling them, and simplifying the issues for the court to obtain a successful outcome for clients.

During and after law school, Jon gained exposure to many areas of law, policy, and the judicial process around Washington, D.C. After graduation, he worked as a law clerk for the Hon. William M. Jackson in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and previously interned with the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office of General Counsel, the U.S. Department of State’s American Foreign Service Association, and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Office of General Counsel.

As a student attorney in the D.C. Law Students in Court clinic program, Jon notably obtained a $23,000 jury award for a tenant in rent abatement.
