Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Anchor Center for Blind Children, a nationally recognized charity that teaches and provides comprehensive care for visually impaired infants and young children preparing them for life-long success, as the recipient of the firm’s 2023-2024 charitable grant program in Denver.
As part of its charitable grant program, Spencer Fane will donate $25,000, paid in installments over the next two years, to Anchor Center to support its mission of setting the standard as a nationally recognized leader in developmental, educational, and support services for children who are blind or visually impaired, as well as the families and professionals who serve them.
“As a nonprofit that is over 95% privately funded, support from individuals and corporate partners is critical to our existence. The significant multiyear grant that Spencer Fane has awarded us provides an opportunity for Anchor Center to sustain our current programs and invest in creating new programming for children and families touched by blindness and visual impairment. As one of the only nonprofit pediatric blindness organizations in Colorado – and one of just a handful in the entire nation – we appreciate all of the support for our life-changing work,” said Meghan Klassen, Anchor Center Executive Director.
Anchor Center provides early education and intervention services for children birth to 5 years old who are blind or visually impaired. Over the last full school year, Anchor Center served 131 children, 258 primary caregivers, and 21 siblings through center-based, home visitation, and enhanced virtual services.
“Our firm has a wonderful opportunity to help provide support to Anchor Center and, as an extension, the hundreds of visually impaired young people who depend on the nonprofit’s early intervention, special education, developmental assessment, and various therapy options,” said partner Linda Knight, who spearheaded the Charitable Giving Program in Denver. “Spencer Fane continues to prioritize giving back, and we are excited about the opportunity to develop and grow a relationship with Anchor Center.”
The Spencer Fane Charitable Giving Program provides significant support to select local nonprofit arts organizations through a $25,000 donation over two years. The program is designed as a rotation so that one new recipient enters the program each year, with another exiting upon completion of its three-year cycle. Current and past recipients include Craig Hospital, Boys Hope Girls Hope of St. Louis, and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.
The program’s primary goal is to encourage long-standing relationships with nonprofit organizations and provide Spencer Fane employees with additional opportunities to become involved with the firm’s charitable causes.
