Theresa Becerra Attends and Hosts UCLA Events for Latino Students and Alumni

November 15, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney Theresa Becerra attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) 2023 Latinx Welcome: “Creciendo Nuestro Futuro” event on October 9. She also organized and hosted the Welcome Reception for the 2023-2024 UCLA Latino Alumni Association’s (ULAA) OrgullOSO Mentorship Program at the UCLA James West Alumni Center on October 12.

Hosted by the university’s Chicano Studies Research Center, the Latinx Welcome event allowed new and continuing Latinx undergraduate and graduate UCLA students to gather for food, entertainment, a resource and networking fair, and a welcome from campus leadership. Attendees also got to learn about and celebrate the significant accomplishments made by Latinx alums of UCLA.

At the OrgullOSO reception, Theresa – who serves as the Chair of the ULAA Scholarship Committee – helped UCLA Latinx students and alumni come together to meet their mentor/mentee matches under the program. The OrgullOSO Mentorship Program was initially launched in 2016 to match ULAA student scholarship recipients with alumni mentors but has grown to also offer mentorship to all UCLA Latinx students.  This year, the OrgullOSO Mentorship Program was administered through the UCLA ONE program and successfully registered almost 400 students seeking mentorship.

At Spencer Fane, Theresa brings almost 25 years of experience to her successful law practice. She specializes in conventional and affordable housing counseling, administrative actions, commercial construction counseling, and litigation, including complex business litigation such as consumer class action defense, issues arising from claims of unfair competition, unfair business practices, interference with contract and other business torts, and breach of fiduciary duty.

Theresa is also passionate about community stewardship. In addition to her involvement with UCLA, she takes part in organizations that include Project Angel Food, Operation Gratitude, and the Judicial Appointments Committee for the Los Angeles County Bar.
