Spencer Fane is pleased to be a sponsor for the 18th Annual Evening of Alum Rock Jazz, an annual benefit concert for the Alum Rock Jazz Foundation, on June 1 in San Jose, California. Attorney Servando Sandoval, the organization’s vice president and a program alum, will represent the firm at the event.
The concert will feature performances from the Alum Rock Jazz Band and the Alum Rock Alumni Jazz Band, comprising members from the program’s entire 50-year history. Attendees will also enjoy a silent auction, raffles, and food and beverages.
Every year, this event serves as the signature fundraiser for initiatives such as the Alum Rock Jazz Program, Alum Rock Summer Jazz Program, and San Jose Jazz Summer Jazz Camp. Funding goes to key components such as the purchase and repair of instruments and transportation for the students. As a result, these programs provide musical enrichment for fifth to eighth-grade students by providing opportunities to learn and perform big-band jazz, classic rock, show tunes, and other popular songs.
As Servando shared on the NBC News program Communidad Del Valle, the values Alum Rock instills in its participants last a lifetime.
“We have this great saying, si se puede, and it is very true. We have a lot of success stories that have come out of Alum Rock…We have doctors, attorneys, teachers, and any other type of professional,” Servando said. “Something we try to emphasize with our kids is that this is hopefully just the start for you guys, for your future. If you put in the effort and you dedicate yourself, you can accomplish whatever you want to accomplish.”
