Spencer Fane is a Gold Sponsor for the September 24-25 Midwest Environmental Compliance Conference (MECC) in Overland Park, Kansas. Attorneys AJ Ferate and Paul Jacobson will speak at the event.
MECC provides a forum for environmental industry thought leaders to network and receive valuable insights on key challenges and regulations that impact Midwestern facilities and institutions. Hosted by state business and manufacturing associations and attended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state agencies, the conference offers a fresh approach to areas such as environmental compliance, permitting, enforcement, and more.
As part of the event’s timely programming, AJ will join the SCOTUS Unleashed panel on September 24. The presentation will discuss pivotal, recent Supreme Court decisions that have upended years of precedence and will change the landscape of environmental law. Topics will include federal agency deference (Loper Bright and Corner Post), GNP (Ohio v. EPA), WOTUS (Sackett), “Major Question Doctrine” (West Virginia), and other SCOTUS actions.
Later that day, Paul will co-present the session RMP, Not as You Know It: How to Plan and Respond. This presentation will explain key aspects of the EPA’s 2024 Risk Management Program (RMP) regulation amendments, addressing compliance and the immediate actions it might entail.
