Spencer Fane attorneys Paul Jacobson, Jessica Merrigan, and Andrew Brought spoke at the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) Midwest Section Environmental Technical Conference on April 22 in Lenexa, Kansas. The firm was pleased to once again sponsor this 32nd annual event.
At this year’s conference, Paul, Jessie, and Drew provided the lunch plenary session, updating participants on the Presidential Transition Legal Overview. This presentation addressed the state of the Environmental Protection Agency, changes to numerous regulations focused on air emissions, and changes to procedures for conducting environmental review. It also covered shifts in agency enforcement priorities, and anticipated consequences for various regulatory programs. Later, Jessie also presented for the afternoon keynote, Reducing Risk in your Risk Communications, providing key insights on how to effectively engage community stakeholders.
The A&WMA Midwest Section is a regional organization of the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) – a nonprofit technical, scientific, and educational organization dedicated to enhancing knowledge and expertise that promotes global environmental responsibility. Through resources and events like the Technical Conference, the A&WMA provides a neutral forum for information exchange, professional development, networking opportunities, public education, and outreach that increases the effectiveness of organizations to make critical decisions that benefit society. Paul has served on the Board of the A&WMA Midwest Section since 2017.
