Spencer Fane Continues Growth of Omaha Office with Addition of Gene Eckel to Litigation Practice

Spencer Fane is pleased to announce Gene Eckel has joined the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group as an of counsel attorney in the firm’s Omaha office.

Gene’s practice involves pursuing litigation strategy and tactical decisions that focus on resolving matters as early as possible and utilizing settlements and other alternative dispute resolution solutions beneficial to a client’s unique objectives and business goals. This includes a specific focus on the real estate industry where he has an established track record of providing landlords and property management companies with a go-to resource for proactively resolving legal issues, helping them maintain efficient operations in conjunction with tenants. His background in public policy and general commercial and civil litigation provides him with valuable insight into handling the full spectrum of litigious real estate matters.

Notably, Gene has extensive experience drafting and passing state legislation in Nebraska involving the relationships between tenants and landlords. He is a proven advocate for property owners, taking a deep interest in understanding his clients’ day-to-day operations and unique business objectives. This allows him to provide counsel that helps maintain regulatory compliance with state and federal laws and avoid litigation whenever possible.

Outside of private practice, Gene has served on the board of directors for the Apartment Association of Nebraska and Nebraska Association of Commercial Property Owners and is a member of the Legislative Committee and Affordable Housing Committee for the National Apartment Association. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nebraska and later earned his Juris Doctor at the Creighton University School of Law.
