The Spencer Fane Kansas City office was pleased to host its annual reception during the Plaza Art Fair on September 19. Several firm attorneys attended alongside their clients, families, and friends, with the event also including a special exhibition from a Band of Angels (BoA) student musician.
BoA, a nonprofit dedicated to providing instruments and musical instruments to underserved K-12 students, is the 2023-2025 recipient of the Spencer Fane Charitable Grant Program in Kansas City. As part of the firm’s ongoing teamwork with the charity, attorney Nate Orr created an opportunity for a young BoA saxophonist to perform with a professional jazz band as part of the Art Fair reception’s live entertainment.
Nate spoke with Band of Angels on the importance of providing “next-level” collaboration with the firm’s charitable partners: “So many corporations give money to organizations. [We’re] able to do that but also partner and integrate the kids that we’re supporting into the fabric of what we do on a day-to-day basis with our clients … It propels kids that might not otherwise have a chance to go become the future [of the business community].”
The Plaza Art Fair is a top-ranked, annual national art event that encompasses nine city blocks. Over 200 artists exhibit their work as children activities, live music, and local restaurants add to the fun atmosphere.
