May 3, 2024

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce associate Alexis Denny joined the Health Care practice group in the firm’s Overland Park office. She has served as a summer law clerk at Spencer Fane since 2022, seamlessly reinforcing the firm’s humble, inclusive culture while adding measurable value to numerous client matters.

In her private practice, Denny helps clients navigate complex litigation, mitigate regulatory and administrative risks, and achieve outcomes aligned with their unique business goals and objectives. Within the health care sector, she brings a fresh perspective and stability-oriented approach to current matters challenging health care entities large and small.

“Alexis is an established thought leader with a service-focused professional background that will give her clients and broader practice group a unique edge,” said David Waters, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Overland Park. “She has in-depth experience researching, strategizing, and problem-solving at all organizational levels – a critical asset within the multifaceted sphere of health care law. Our team is ecstatic to have her on board.”

Following over a decade of experience in government relations and nonprofit management, Denny served as a judicial intern to the Hon. Stephen R. Bough for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri between her summer associate internships with Spencer Fane. As an intern, she gained valuable experience drafting and reviewing legal documents as well as researching issues pertinent to current litigation, building a reputation for comprehensive analysis with an acute attention to detail across various sectors.

Prior to attending law school, Denny was the Director of Government Affairs at the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation in Washington, D.C., following multiple positions as a nonprofit director, program manager and, notably, a volunteer in the U.S. Peace Corps. In these roles, she managed numerous internal programs, developed and executed strategic initiatives, and committed herself to serving diverse communities – dynamic, cross-industry skills she utilizes in her current practice.

Denny received her bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University and her Master of Public Administration in Non-Profit Management and Health Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), then later earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude at UMKC School of Law, where she honed her writing and editing skills as a research and writing teaching assistant and served as Lead Comment Editor for the UMKC Law Review.
