February 21, 2025

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Holly H. Barnes has joined the firm’s Houston office as an of counsel attorney in the Intellectual Property (IP) practice group.

Holly represents clients in IP litigation and complex commercial disputes, adeptly navigating highly sophisticated subject matter to help protect the interests of businesses, patent holders, or other creative owners in and out of the courtroom, including against some of the world’s largest companies.

Prior to entering private practice, Holly worked in bioanalytical development, designing and implementing quality assurance methodologies for the production of monoclonal antibodies and later clerked for the general counsel’s office of Baylor College of Medicine. Her background and nuanced understanding of broader scientific fields contributes to a high-caliber legal acumen when crafting solutions for intricate IP and related business matters.

“Holly’s acute skill set and dedication as both a litigator and mediator will be a huge asset to our team,” said Brian Zimmerman, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Houston. “She embodies the sharp intellect of the firm’s growing IP practice group and the powerful advocacy of our commercial litigators. We look forward to the impact she will have in Texas and beyond.”

Holly received a bachelor’s degree in genetics from Texas A&M University, later earning her Juris Doctor at the University of Houston Law Center. Beyond private practice, she volunteers her time at the Houston Food Bank and National Charity League.
