Spencer Fane attorneys Shawn Tuma and Christine Chasse led a CLE for the Dallas Bar Association Health Law Section on May 21.
The team’s presentation offered a bird’s eye view of trends of cybersecurity in the health care sector. They discussed why the health care industry is an attractive target for attacks, ransoms, and practical applications. Shawn and Christine also provided best practices for protecting data and ensuring readiness for incident response.
At Spencer Fane, Shawn co-leads the firm’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group while serving as Office Managing Partner for the firm’s Plano location. In addition to these leadership roles, he maintains a robust law practice that helps businesses protect their information and protect themselves from their information. Christine utilizes her extensive front-line health care experience to assess and successfully resolve CMS investigations and litigation for hospital systems and providers. She also guides her clients on cyber incident response matters such as actual or potential HIPAA breaches and data security incidents.
