Nick Badgerow Honored with Justinian Award by Johnson County Bar Association

Spencer Fane is pleased to announce that attorney Nick Badgerow has been honored as the 2022 recipient of the Johnson County Bar Association’s (JCBA) prestigious Justinian Award. He was honored at the JCBA’s annual meeting on December 7.

The Justinian Award is the highest award presented annually to a JCBA member. The award is given to a lawyer who has been in practice for longer than 20 years and has exemplified a lifetime of dedication to the profession. Recipients have made a significant legal impact in the community, demonstrated exemplary ethical standards, and continuously demonstrated integrity, warmth, friendliness, and camaraderie.

At Spencer Fane, Nick has been a trial lawyer with more than 46 years of experience trying complex and difficult cases throughout the Midwest and has tried more than 50 jury trials. In recent years Nick’s practice has focused on consultation with, and representation of, lawyers, law firms and judges. He also frequently serves as a construction arbitrator and mediator, and a consultant and expert witness on legal ethics.

Nick served on the Kansas Judicial Council for 20 years, the Kansas State Board of Discipline for 16 years, and as chairman of the Johnson County Bar Ethics and Grievance Committee for 30 years. He was chairman of the Kansas Ethics 2000 Commission and the Kansas Ethics 2020 Commission, and a member of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism. He has published more than 80 legal articles, co-authored two books, and presented more than 200 seminars.
