Spencer Fane attorney Liz Isaac returned as a guest speaker for the patent law class of Associate Professor Timothy Tau Hsieh at the Oklahoma City University School of Law on April 13.
During her visit, Liz – an OCU alumna herself – discussed her unique educational and career journey, which has long been marked by a focus on intellectual property law. She highlighted the impact of pursuing leadership and service roles within organizations like the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) (which involved being a key player in bringing the USPTO Patent Pro Bono Program to OCU Law), the Oklahoma Bar Association Intellectual Property Section Board, the Oklahoma Country Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Board, the OCU Law Alumni Board, and non-legal organizations such as Leadership Oklahoma City, Allied Arts, and IgniteOKC.
At Spencer Fane, Liz helps businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists assess and protect their inventions and creative products and ideas to leverage IP portfolios and enhance business options. She strategically counsels clients on due diligence, patents, trademarks, copyrights, entertainment law, and internet law, as well as licensing, transactional, adversarial, and litigation matters. She excels in holistic IP management by collaborating with more narrowly focused colleagues to develop global IP and IP-adjacent approaches to strengthen companies’ market positions.
