Ken Kramer Explains Nuances of Colorado Property Taxes

Spencer Fane attorney Ken Kramer was recently interviewed by Mansion Global in an article discussing property tax regulations in Colorado.

As part of a weekly feature in Mansion Global named “Tax Talk,” Ken answered the question “At What Point Do I Start Paying Property Tax on Land I Own in Colorado?”

“Property taxes in the Denver area are due Jan. 1,” Ken said. “But property taxes there are paid in arrears, meaning the 2018 taxes will be due at the beginning of 2019. So if a deal goes through on Oct. 1, 2018, both the buyer and seller will be on the hook for part of the year’s taxes.”
