Jessie Merrigan and Paul Jacobson Present at A&WMA Environmental Technical Conference

Spencer Fane attorneys Jessie Merrigan and Paul Jacobson each spoke at the 30th Annual Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) Midwest Section Environmental Technical Conference on May 2 in Lenexa, Kansas. The firm also served as a sponsor for the event.

Jessie presented the session PFAS – Legal Update and Environmental Forensics alongside Maria Vishnevskiy of Geosyntec Consultants. They provided an update on proposed and upcoming rules governing PFAS and what companies should consider as they assess monitoring, reporting, and eventual requirements for cleanup.

During his session, Chemical Process Safety Updates, Paul examined recent and anticipated developments to EPA and OSHA regulations governing the management of highly hazardous chemicals, namely EPA’s Risk Management Plan program and OSHA’s Process Safety Management program. Paul gave insight into how regulated facilities should adapt to recent changes and plan for more changes on the horizon.

At Spencer Fane, Jessie co-chairs the Environment and Energy Practice Group. She counsels clients on environmental matters regarding regulatory requirements and represents them in litigation of environmental claims, including contribution claims under the federal Superfund law. Paul helps businesses manage their environmental and workplace safety legal challenges. He frequently interacts with the EPA, OSHA, and state environmental quality and workplace safety agencies.
