Spencer Fane is pleased to announce that, in recognition of her trailblazing leadership, attorney Cathy Webking was shortlisted for 2024 Influential Woman of the Year at the Texas Lawyer Texas Legal Awards.
This distinction celebrates the most outstanding, inspiring women lawyers in Texas “who have demonstrated exceptional skill in their fields and dedication to advancing equality.” To further highlight the careers and successes of those recognized, honorees and finalists were also spotlighted in a special published Q&A.
In her feature, Cathy shared her proudest achievements, provided advice to early-career attorneys, and discussed how the legal industry can improve diversity efforts.
“When firms place more deserving women in leadership roles, [the industry’s] unbalanced metrics begin to shift,” she said, using the empowering, inclusivity-focused culture at Spencer Fane as an example. “Since [our] intentional shift to hire and promote more women and minority attorneys, the firm has steadily grown while retaining current employees at rates far beyond peer firms, our client base has rapidly increased, and our output has benefited immensely from more perspectives. Employees are happier, more successful, and feel they have greater control over their professional futures.”
Cathy and her fellow honorees were formally recognized at the annual awards dinner on October 15 in Dallas. Winners were announced at the ceremony.
