Bill Hopkins Named to American Bar Association Nominating Committee

February 26, 2024

Spencer Fane attorney Bill Hopkins has been selected to the 2024-2025 Nominating Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA) Health Law Section.

The ABA Health Law section has members that represent clients, work in-house or in the government covering all segments of the health care industry, including physicians, hospitals, and other institutional providers; teaching and research organizations; managed care organizations and other third-party payers; pharmaceutical companies; and device manufacturers. In this role, Bill will help the Committee to determine the Section’s next slate of officers and council members from among over 8,500 members across the U.S.

This is the latest of several leadership roles Bill has held for the ABA, at the firm, and beyond. He is currently the Chair of the Diversity Committee, Vice Chair of the Interest Group Executive Committee and serves on the Leadership Council.  In his past, he has served as Chair for the ABA’s Physician Issues Interest Group, Long-Term Care Task Force, and Distance Learning Committee. He is also the former commissioner for the organization’s National Commission on Law and Aging.

At Spencer Fane, Bill serves as Office Managing Partner for the Austin office and as a member of the Spencer Fane DEI Committee. As an attorney, he helps to protect health care providers and health care companies against the many potential pitfalls in the industry, serving as both an advocate and educator for his clients in administrative law, regulatory defense, transactional work, compliance, and litigation.
