Alvin Zimmerman Educates During HBA ADR Section CLE

Hon. Alvin Zimmerman, Spencer Fane attorney, spoke at the Houston Bar Association (HBA) Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section’s 2025 Annual ADR CLE on May 9 at South Texas College of Law Houston.

With eight CLE sessions, scholarship announcements, and networking breaks, this educational program featured an all-star lineup of industry thought leaders providing insight on topics such as mediation, arbitration, and the recently introduced Texas Business Courts. For his panel, Best Practices & Insights from Seasoned Mediators & Arbitrators, Alvin shared lessons from his experience as a distinguished mediator who has participated in over 500 arbitrations and 3,000 mediations throughout his career. His credentials include: Texas Board Certified Family Law; Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, College of International Arbitrators, International Academy of Mediators, and College of Commercial Arbitrators; Texas Association of Credentialed Mediators-Distinguished Credentialed Mediator; and recipient of the 2024 State Bar of Texas Foundation Outstanding 50 Year Lawyer Award.

At the firm, Alvin is actively involved in family law including trials, custody, and marital agreements. He also serves as a mediator and arbitrator in Harris County, Texas, with extensive ADR experience including business, family, health, construction, commercial, tort, employment, intellectual property (patent, trademark, and copyright), personal injury, franchise, probate, and oil and gas cases. His broad legal career boasts deserved notoriety across numerous ranking systems and additional roles. Alvin is a special judge for hire, special master, and ad litem who conducts investigations for educational institutions and was previously a municipal court judge for the city of Houston, state district judge of the 269th (civil) and 309th (family) District Courts, former general counsel for public companies and a national bank, and assistant attorney general for the state of Texas.
