Adam LaBoda Analyzes Silicon Valley Bank Shockwaves in Kansas City Business Journal

April 12, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney Adam LaBoda recently talked with Kansas City Business Journal reporter James Dornbrook about the impact Silicon Valley Bank’s fall might have on Midwest banks.

The article explained how the failure of California’s Silicon Valley Bank and New York-headquartered Signature Bank put eyes on regional banks, including some in Kansas City. Adam opined that the Silicon Valley and Signature collapses were based on factors unique to each institution and that depositors need to remain calm.

“Everyone should evaluate their financial institution and feel confident that they’ve made a good decision on where to put their money,” Adam said. “but most – if not all – of our regional financial institutions are pretty diversified by nature. There certainly is a level of comfort in that.”

At Spencer Fane, Adam concentrates his practice in the areas of transactional and regulatory banking matters, commercial lending, workouts, bankruptcy, and corporate trust. He is regularly involved with various types of financing transactions and also advises clients with respect to their dealings with the Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC, and state regulators regarding applications and examinations, affiliate transactions, and regulatory enforcement actions and compliance issues.
