340B Program Updates: $100 Billion in Health Care Funding in the Spotlight

November 11, 2026

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. CT

Since 1992, the 340B program has provided funding for safety-net health care providers, growing to approximately $100 billion in net funding in 2025. But the program is not funded directly by the government; instead, it is funded by the margins safety-net health care providers can obtain from purchasing prescription drugs from drug companies at significant discounts that drug companies are required to provide in order for their products to be covered by Medicaid and Medicare Part B. Heading into 2027, the 340B program is facing mounting pressures on multiple fronts that put safety-net health care at increasing financial risk.

In this program, Beth Siemer and Aurora Kammerer will highlight key changes and challenges that are impacting the program.
