Bill Hopkins Outlines Long-Term Care Reforms for American Health Law Association

February 21, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney Bill Hopkins co-authored an article for the American Health Law Association’s January issue, explaining why nursing home reform is a crucial health law topic this year.

In the article, Top Ten Issues in Health Law 2023, Bill outlines the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)’s new Biden administration initiatives which seek to improve the safety and quality of nursing home care. These initiatives include establishing minimum nursing home staff requirements, reducing room crowding, strengthening the skilled nursing facility value-based purchasing program, and reinforcing safeguards against unnecessary medications and treatments.

“The long-term care industry should anticipate ongoing scrutiny in 2023 and beyond as the administration continues to pursue these comprehensive reforms,” Bill notes.

At Spencer Fane, Bill helps to protect healthcare providers and healthcare companies against the many potential pitfalls in the industry, serving as both an advocate and educator for his clients in administrative law, regulatory defense, compliance, and litigation. He ensures that the legal aspects of health care are covered, so his clients can maintain their focus where it matters most – providing health care.
