Spencer Fane attorney Nate Orr was a recent guest on Successful Chaos, an entrepreneurship and wealth management-centered podcast presented by intellicents.
During his chat with host Bryan Sarff – Kansas City’s Legal Connector on Navigating Growth, Chaos, and Opportunity – Nate discussed topics such as balancing growth with risk management, warning signs for needing a lawyer, how NIL deals are transforming college athletics, the complex evolution of AI, and cryptocurrency’s regulatory maze. He also gave advice on prioritizing one’s family while maintaining high-performance legal work and shared his unique career trajectory and ‘tagline,’ “Know and Help People.”
“If you’re a business and you’re not willing to take on some risk, you’re not going to evolve and grow. And when you do take on risk, it is disruptive both hopefully to the marketplace, which is to your benefit, but also to your business,” Nate said. “We kind of manage and puppet-master that chaos in the background so that [clients] can go on with their business and do front-end things … that’s a place where we can add value.”
At Spencer Fane, Nate serves as fractional general counsel for his clients, managing their legal matters across the firm’s broad spectrum of practice areas as a “legal quarterback” with a unique business model. In managing his clients’ relationships with the firm, he takes advantage of more than 25 years of litigating and negotiating commercial, real estate, financial, and employment claims/agreements. He assists dozens of businesses and financial institutions, providing strategy to restructure credits, protect assets, maintain regulatory compliance, avoid costly litigation, and create new business relationships.
