Mitchell (Mitch) Martin

Overview
Mitchell (“Mitch”) Martin represents businesses of all shapes and sizes. With more than a decade of litigation experience, Mitch relies on lessons from the courtroom to keep his clients out of court. Much of his compliance practice focuses on counseling clients from various industries – including housing, tech, construction, and healthcare – on federal and state privacy laws; proper practices for gathering, using, and protecting personal information; and the legal risks associated with emerging technologies, biometric data, and artificial intelligence (AI).
When litigation is inevitable, Mitch stands ready to vindicate or defend his clients’ rights in court. A natural litigator, he has been recognized by publications and peers for his strengths in the courtroom. He has tried jury and bench trials in federal and state courts and briefed appeals with favorable results in venues across the country. Mitch’s litigation experience includes all types of complex commercial disputes, including data breach class actions, fraudulent wire transfer litigation, consumer protection litigation (FDCPA and TCPA), products liability, environmental litigation, and civil rights litigation, with amounts in controversy generally in the millions (and sometimes billions) of dollars.
Before entering private practice, he worked as an intern for the former Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, the Honorable Lloyd Karmeier; Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the Honorable Michael Reagan; and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois.
