Matt David helps large technology companies navigate the intricacies of intellectual property litigation, skillfully applying his background in engineering and as a U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) examiner to address patent applications with hands-on intel and exceptional creativity. Matt litigates, prepares, and prosecutes patents primarily in the computer, electrical, and mechanical arts. He also has experience with post-grant proceedings at the USPTO.
Prior to entering private practice, Matt spent over a decade as a primary examiner and examination specialist at the USPTO, where he reviewed many of the highest profile patent applications, focusing on the areas of computer architecture, communication protocols, and power management. While at the USPTO, Matt maintained a stellar track record at the Patent Trial Appeal Board, being affirmed or affirmed-in-part on nearly every appeal. His comprehensive understanding of patent examiner culture fuels his current success in IP litigation. Additionally, Matt has experience filing trademarks, patent due diligence, and with rendering validity, freedom-to-operate, and non-infringement opinions.
Matt consistently exceeds client expectations to deliver the most informed and reliable solutions, reinforcing his engineering background by regularly modifying transmissions, designing custom suspensions, deploying open-source engine management systems, and fabricating a variety of powertrain components to maintain a detailed understanding of customized systems in his litigatory work.
