Spencer Fane attorney Jeremy Brenner

Overview

Jeremy Brenner advises employers and managers on all aspects of employment law focused on preventing and avoiding employee disputes. He has served as a strategic business partner to employers for more than 16 years, both as an HR consultant and as an employment attorney. He focuses extensively on cases under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and similar state wage laws and has successfully defended wage and hour matters in state and federal courts across the U.S.

A seasoned litigator, Jeremy has achieved favorable outcomes for misclassification, overtime, and minimum wage collective and class actions under the FLSA and other state laws and has adeptly navigated numerous U.S. Department of Labor investigations. He also represents employers and managers in administrative charge processes and other contentious state and federal litigation, including defending discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, retaliation, and Family Medical Leave Act claims.

Additionally, Jeremy handles employee issues that arise from mergers and acquisitions, providing guidance to both buyers and sellers at all stages of the M&A life cycle. This includes conducting due diligence, reviewing and preparing employment agreements, and assisting with post-closing integration.

Jeremy’s diverse industry experience spans auto repair and dealerships, retail and restaurants, cannabis, cable and satellite, health care, software, manufacturing, and oil and gas. He is a frequent writer and speaker on employment law and human resource topics, which help employers and managers prevent disputes.

In addition to his employment law practice, Jeremy notably serves as outside corporate counsel and outside employment counsel to several nonprofits dedicated to early education and children’s health and wellness.
