Spencer Fane attorney Ebony Randolph

Overview

Ebony Randolph represents clients across a broad range of complex civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts, working diligently to secure favorable outcomes from case inception through resolution. She has specific experience defending clients in insurance coverage disputes, personal injury, premises liability, and general liability, minimizing financial exposure and reputational damage through comprehensive and consistent advocacy.

Ebony’s work includes litigation and counseling for complex unlawful detainer actions in both commercial and residential spheres. She also negotiates repayment agreements for delinquent residential tenants and other related issues regarding the functionality of a property, such as negotiating proposed terms and drafting mutual termination agreements with tenants in lieu of commencing eviction proceedings. Ebony also has experience responding to complaints under the California Civil Rights Department, HUD, Section 8, either through short-term resolution and informal settlement or through the litigation process in court. In addition, she advises on fair housing laws, reasonable accommodation requests, and nonprofit regulations regarding affordable housing.

Before entering private practice, Ebony served as a law clerk for the County of Los Angeles Inglewood Public Defender’s Office, developing the fierce resolve now present in her work both in and out of the courtroom. Following, she represented clients as a private criminal defense attorney and began practicing civil litigation defense. Throughout her career, she has managed the full breadth of casework – bringing and defending dispositive motions; resolving disputes through early settlement negotiations, law, and motion practice; and taking and defending fact witness and expert depositions.

Ebony has also notably served as a pro bono attorney for victims of domestic violence, employing her educational background in social work and passion for helping others. This work has included guidance for reasonable accommodation requests under the protections of the Violence Against Women Act and authoring thought leadership on this subject. Upon earning her Juris Doctor, she was awarded the Public Interest Distinction of Honor for completing more than 400 hours of pro bono work.
