David Vaughan

With a professional background rooted in precision engineering and advanced manufacturing, David brings hands-on experience spanning semiconductor fabrication, high-tech materials processing, and industrial laser technology. Early in his career, he supported photolithography operations at IBM’s East Fishkill facility, where he worked in a cleanroom environment installing and calibrating wafer handling equipment – including photoresist apply-and-bake tools – fine-tuning vacuum chucking pressures, machine leveling, and wafer transport systems to ensure defect-free processing. He also conducted statistical analyses on wafer contamination, developing an early foundation in process quality and yield optimization that is directly applicable to semiconductor manufacturing environments. His subsequent work at General Electric Silicones deepened his experience in specialty materials – including silicones widely used as dielectrics, encapsulants, and thermal interface materials in semiconductor packaging – while his role at Union Carbide Coatings Service in Japan further refined his skills in precision laser processing and parameter development, disciplines that closely parallel laser ablation, lithography, and surface engineering techniques used throughout the semiconductor industry.
