Overview

Cori A. Rosen helps real estate owners, developers, professionals, and organizations navigate the complex and evolving human rights laws that shape the development, management, and operation of real property. She advises clients on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), New York State Human Rights Law, and New York City Human Rights Law, helping them identify potential exposure, establish practical compliance measures, and respond effectively when disputes or investigations arise.

Cori’s extensive real estate portfolio includes helping clients, including major New York developers, create comprehensive policies and procedures that comply with all respective human rights laws and accessibility requirements. Her oversight spans design implementation, real property development, tenant applications, source-of-income and criminal-history considerations, reasonable accommodation and modification requests (including requests related to service and emotional support animals), property remediation, and employee education and training. Her goal is to help clients integrate compliance into their daily operations while managing long-term legal and business risks, which she achieves through a robust and proactive approach that includes close collaboration with engineers and other related professionals to develop strategic plans. These relationships also aid in the creation of innovative, adaptable design features for use at her clients’ properties.

In addition to proactive counseling, Cori boasts significant federal and state litigation experience and a consistent track record of success. She regularly handles complex disputes brought by private complainants, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, and state attorneys general; and defends administrative proceedings and investigations commenced by the New York City Commission on Human Rights and the New York State Division of Human Rights.

Cori also uses her seasoned legal acumen to represent some of New York’s leading property owners in sophisticated disputes involving real estate development, lease interpretation, partnerships and joint ventures, corporate mergers, acquisitions and dissolutions, and landlord-tenant matters.
