Spencer Fane attorney Yana Rusovski recently led a virtual fair housing complaint workshop titled, “From Filing to Resolution: A Hands-on Learning Experience.” The workshop was sponsored by three local realtor associations from the Chicago suburbs and attended by a wide variety of real estate professionals.
During the interactive learning session, Yana covered topics pertinent to the fair housing complaint process, including best practices to use and pitfalls to avoid during investigation, conciliation, and resolution. Attendees then participated in a live mock conciliation exercise to practice applying the insights and tools they had just learned in real-world scenarios.
Yana concluded the session with a summary of tips to build confidence within the complex and highly regulated fair housing landscape.
At the firm, Yana focuses on regulatory compliance, preventive counseling, and defending against enforcement actions, informed by her prior leadership experience at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She regularly helps clients identify and manage fair housing and fair lending risks and specializes in developing carefully tailored strategies to resolve disputes in ways that safeguard business goals, reputations, and relationships.
Yana is a member of the firm’s newly announced Chicago office, where she plays a critical role in expanding client service offerings to the largest legal market in the Midwest.
