Spencer Fane Sponsors American Bar Foundation Fellows Reception in Utah

January 21, 2025

Spencer Fane was pleased to sponsor the American Bar Foundation (ABF)’s Utah Fellows Reception on January 15 in Salt Lake City. Attorney and ABF Utah Chapter Chair Keith Call hosted and emceed the event.

Held at the Utah Law and Justice Center, the gathering featured a keynote presentation, The Defeat of John Parker and the Making of the Modern Supreme Court, from ABF Research Professor Christopher W. Schmidt. This CLE examined a key moment in the making of the modern Supreme Court: the failed appointment of John Parker to the Supreme Court in 1930, which marked the first time a nominee was voted down in the Senate for almost half a century. Professor Schmidt explored how this moment forged new pathways connecting the Court and the American people.

The ABF is the world’s leading research institute for the empirical and interdisciplinary study of law. The organization seeks to expand knowledge and advance justice through innovative, interdisciplinary, and rigorous empirical research on law, legal processes, and legal institutions. In addition to being the institute’s Utah Chapter Chair, Keith is a lifetime member of the Fellows of the ABF, which works alongside the American Bar Endowment to provide the ABF’s primary funding.

At Spencer Fane, Keith helps corporate and individual clients with all of their litigation needs so they can stay focused on their core businesses and personal interests. He excels in defending lawyers in professional ethics and liability matters, as well as complex commercial, technology, and IP litigation.
