Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Stephen D. Wadsworth to the firm’s Birmingham, Alabama, office as an of counsel attorney in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group.
Stephen represents clients across diverse commercial litigation matters with a focus on securities arbitration, shareholder derivative litigation, and class actions. Prior to joining Spencer Fane, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney (AUSA) for the Middle District of Alabama.
As an AUSA, Stephen gained extensive experience in the office’s civil division, regularly resolving matters related to the False Claims Act and other anti-fraud statutes.
Before his seven years of service with the U.S. Attorney’s office, Stephen spent eight years in private practice representing parties in complex commercial and business disputes. During this period, he was consistently recognized for his success as a commercial litigator by multiple prominent legal publications, also earning a spot on Birmingham Business Journal’s annual Best of the Bar.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, Stephen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law. He is licensed to practice in both Alabama and Louisiana.
