Spencer Fane Adds Strategic Business Transactions Attorney to Plano Office

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Scott R. Beckmen joined the Business Transactions practice group as an of counsel attorney in the firm’s Plano, Texas office.

Scott delivers reliable, practical, and efficient business-oriented advice to clients throughout several industries, including finance, gaming, technology, and energy, leading to creative and agile solutions critical to both day-to-day and long-term operational success. His practice focuses on acquisitions and divestitures; complex corporate and commercial transactions; securities offerings; entity, joint venture, and partnership structuring and formation; general business counseling; private equity investments; and project implementation and management of large document management projects.

Having developed significant experience in the entertainment and gaming industries, Scott regularly represents content companies, including motion picture studios, technology companies, gaming companies, private equity funds, and other clients in various types of business transactions.

Scott began his legal career in the energy space and offers significant experience in oil and gas asset and entity acquisitions as well as transactions involving exploration, production, development, and transportation. He has negotiated several energy-based master agreements and has advised clients with respect to the regulations of the U.S. Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Trade Commission, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Outside of his primary practice areas, Scott also works with clients in a variety of other industries, including cannabis / CBD and blockchain and distributed ledger technology.

In his role as Chief Legal Officer, Scott developed, led, and oversaw corporate goals and strategies, compliance programs, management policies, and financial matters with both internal departments and relevant state, federal, and international governing bodies in addition to advising the Board, CEO, and other corporate officers on a variety of issues.

Scott received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas and earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Tulsa College of Law.
