Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to welcome Robert H. Scott to the firm’s Salt Lake City office as a partner in the Banking and Financial Services Practice Group.

Rob brings significant experience in consumer litigation, with a particular focus on individual and class cases under federal and state consumer protection laws. He has also litigated, arbitrated, or settled a broad range of complex contractual disputes, intellectual property disputes, product liability cases, commercial real estate disputes, natural resources disputes, and employment matters.

Rob regularly defends financial services clients in individual and class cases involving federal and state laws pertaining to mortgages and foreclosure; student loans, credit cards, and auto loans; and related origination, servicing, and marketing issues. Based on his experience representing these clients in litigation, he is also regularly enlisted to help them navigate related compliance and risk management issues that are central to their operations.

“We continue to see increased need from financial services clients across the country for detailed and experienced counsel,” said Keith Call, office managing partner for Spencer Fane in Salt Lake City. “Rob bolsters our growing presence in Utah and adds a valuable resource to provide collaborative legal services that go beyond the traditional banking context. His approach stands in strong alignment with the dynamic culture that continues to set Spencer Fane apart from peer firms.”

With more than two decades of legal experience, Rob has held several leadership roles in private practice and has served as a proactive mentor for early-career attorneys to help them navigate their own career paths, further demonstrating his ability to make high-level contributions at Spencer Fane. He completed his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Georgia and earned his Juris Doctor from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
