Spencer Fane attorney Ravi Sundara spoke on the regulation of nonprofit fundraising and charitable solicitation at a South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America Foundation webinar on June 23.
His presentation, Best Practices in Non-Profit Governance and Administration, is part of the Foundation’s Learning Lab series and focused on key issues in running a nonprofit. Ravi discussed current trends in regulation, relevant laws and what is required, and why compliance is truly important. Significantly, he also outlined what organizations should be addressing now.
At Spencer Fane, Ravi regularly counsels clients with respect to the establishment and ongoing maintenance of direct and deferred giving programs involving charitable remainder unitrusts and annuity trusts, pooled income funds and charitable gift annuities, endowments, and donor advised-funds. With regard to corporate and tax matters, Ravi’s experience includes the formation of tax-exempt, nonprofit charitable and religious corporations and advising clients on matters related to tax-exempt status and the unrelated business income tax. He also assists officers and boards with corporate governance issues.
