Pete Hartweger Named to Leadership for New EPI Kansas City Chapter

December 13, 2024

Spencer Fane attorney Pete Hartweger has joined the board for the recently launched Exit Planning Institute (EPI) Kansas City Chapter.

The EPI provides business owners’ advisors with crucial education that expands their skill sets, adds value to their client relationships, and attracts new business. The organization’s Kansas City Chapter – which held its inaugural event on November 6 in Overland Park, Kansas – aims to create a forum where the local community of professional advisors can collaborate. Through its offerings, the Chapter addresses the unique needs of the local community; develops educational programs for business owners and professional advisors to build awareness and better prepare an owner for the successful exit of their business; develops, encourages, and fosters the adoption of best practices for the exit planning profession; and promotes the common business interests of those business advisors engaged in the profession of exit planning.

As part of his new leadership role, Pete was a panelist for the EPI Kansas City Chapter’s December 4 meeting.  The panel discussed their respective roles as advisors through the M&A process and how they can enhance the value of the business for an ultimate exit.

At Spencer Fane, Pete Hartweger is a partner in the firm’s Business Transactions group, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, tax, general business, pass-through entities, nonprofit and tax-exempt entities, and IRS tax controversies. A large portion of Pete’s practice involves representing small to medium-sized closely held businesses, counseling on contract, employment, tax, licensing, and ownership matters and the day-to-day issues encountered by these businesses. His clients also include several large organizations.
