Norma Izzo and Karen Wohlgemuth Featured in Arizona Attorney Magazine

March 19, 2024

Spencer Fane attorneys Norma Izzo and Karen Wohlgemuth recently authored two articles, “New Family Law Education Order Answers School Pleas” and “Updates to Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure,” featured in the March issue of Arizona Attorney Magazine.

In “New Family Law Education Order Answers School Pleas,” Norma and Karen discuss the implementation and impact of the Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure’s new education order, adopted on an emergency basis with consideration for becoming permanent by the Arizona Supreme Court. As standard parenting plans have given rise to numerous parenting conflicts and legal disputes that schools are not a party to, Norma and Karen explain that “providing schools with a separate and concise education order containing only school-related information saves time and money on legal expenses, and it reduces school involvement with parenting conflicts.”

In addition to the new education order, Norma and Karen elaborate on other amendments in “Updates to Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedure,” including the 60-to-21-day deadline shift for court rulings, increased requirements to request an emergency hearing for temporary orders, and a new rule to permit trial courts to issue post-decree orders for the appointment of a Parenting Time Supervisor or, a new role, Case Implementation Supervisor.

At the firm, Norma serves as the Family Law practice group leader. She helps clients with complex family law matters and develops successful legal strategies, using her 18 years of experience in dispute resolution and litigation to advocate for her clients both in and out of the courtroom.

Karen is also a member of the Family Law practice group and helps clients with matters related to divorce, premarital agreements, child support, spousal maintenance, grandparent visitation, and post-decree modifications handled through trial, mediations, arbitrations, and other manners of alternative dispute resolution.
